HELL

You want to know where Hell is?
Visit Iraq. Visit Afghanistan. Or Darfur. Or Haiti.
Or any other war zone on this planet.

Too far, you say?
Hell is a lot closer than you think.
Take a trip through any slum in any major city,
or any town in which industry thrived
before it packed up and left.

Still hesitant?
You don't have to go anywhere to find Hell,
for as long as you harbour fear or hatred in your heart,
you are in Hell.

Feel free to share what Hell means to you.

hell is me; I am hell.

purgatory, maybe.

stuck with this apathy, dead but still breathing. trying hard to be an upstanding citizen. trying hard to like music and clothes and books and all of the things most people like. failing -- always coming back to self-defeating thoughts, not being able to give a fuck about what's important.

knowing that somewhere buried under all of this indifference lies a talented person; someone who could make a difference; someone who could succeed at anything, but instead doubts the existence of this blessing.

giving up on friends and family. wishing to be more involved but hiding in a basement. having great visions of what the future could be, but being halted by insecurity.

being loved, being hated, and not knowing the reasons for either.

seeing the places you describe as hell, and wishing to be there instead. if life is worse overall, so be it. at least i wouldn't be so indifferent and so devoid of feeling.

this to me is hell.

i try to forget about it but it is impossible. and now you know the truth!
